Francesco Petrarca, a central figure of European humanist thought, lived a life of travel, diplomatic duties, and profound literary reflection. In his final years, he chose Arquà as his ideal refuge, where he could devote himself to study and writing, surrounded by the peace of the Euganean Hills. He died here in 1374, leaving behind an immortal legacy.
