Tangible and imperishable elements of memory, not only "Petrarchan."

Monuments and Works of Art

Centuries of memory enclosed in monuments and symbols, linked not only to Petrarch, but to the history of the village.

Arquà Petrarca holds monuments that tell of its history and deep connection with the poet Francesco Petrarca. The village is home to some of the most significant sites of Petrarch's memory, first and foremost his red Verona marble tomb, placed with solemn simplicity in front of the Church of Santa Maria Assunta. But Arquà's past can also be read in the signs left by the centuries: on the top of Monte Castello, the Monument to the Fallen commemorates the victims of the wars, while the Loggia della Vicaria, with its open arches, bears witness to the ancient jurisdiction of the village under the Serenissima. Between history and legend, the so-called Fontana del Petrarca continues to evoke the poet and his presence in this enchanted place. These monuments, scattered among the hamlet's streets and its vantage points, offer an authentic glimpse of a history that is still felt at every step.
