The Mount Calbarina Tour

A journey through nature, history and unique views

This simple and varied itinerary leads from the medieval village of Arquà Petrarca to the paths of the Monte Calbarina, giving an immersion in nature and breathtaking views of the Euganean Hills.

The route passes through shady forests and open areas, where the typical flora of the area alternates with ancient geological formations. The Monte Calbarina, with its characteristic dome shape, is an example of laccolite, a special volcanic structure formed millions of years ago.

In addition to its geological history, Calbarina is known among botanists for the extraordinary presence of spontaneous orchids, which color the landscape between March and June.

The route in detail

Departure from Arquà Petrarca

The itinerary starts from Piazzetta San Marco, next to the Oratory of the Holy Trinity, characterized by an ancient Byzantine bas-relief.

Crossing the Loggia dei Vicari, we take the historic Strada Spinèi, a scenic route that alternates sunny stretches with sections shaded by old trees.

On the way down, there is a view of the romantic Coast Pond, a site of great archaeological value, used since the Bronze Age.

The lake is fed by natural thermal springs, whose waters promote the formation of healing mud, used in spa treatments in the area.
